With this method, both hands simply pull off.

Simple
hand removers are available but if you do not have one, pull
the hands off as best you can. Do not lever them off as damage to the dial will
result.
End cutting pliers can be used to grip the hand collet in
desperation, but these may damage the metal either side of the brass collet.
